Research Associate


Location: Toronto, ON


Are you interested in robotics, AI, machine learning and neural networks? We are looking for several

3rd or 4th year computer science or engineering students to participate in our Summer 2019

Innovation lab. If you are curious, collaborative and have the skills we are seeking, please apply



The research associate duties include but are not limited to:

(a) Supporting projects in our Innovation Lab with a focus on voice-activated service robots;

(b) Researching new technologies as part of a team using Orange Gate’s research playbook /


(c) Writing and de-bugging programs and co-developing prototypes (using our agile and

iterative approach);

(d) Supporting assigned projects with QA activities and documentation of usage, design

decisions and capabilities;

(e) Identifying and recommending continuous improvements in data quality, data reporting and

coding activities;

(f) Presenting results and findings to internal business stakeholders;


• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming

• Experience in Java & Python

• Proficient in MS Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

• Accuracy, attention to detail

• Collaborative and able to give and receive feedback in a respectful team environment

• Fluent in English

It would be a bonus if the candidate has additional skills or experience with:

• iOS development (Swift/Objective-C)

• Android development (Kotlin)

• Node environment (Node.js)

• Web technologies (HTML/Javascript/CSS)

• Relational databases (MySQL or equivalent)

• An understanding of Jira

Contract/Full-time: Initial contract term is May 2019 – August 2019 with the potential to extend to

full or part-time thereafter. We operate with a standard 37.5 hour work week (~9:30am – 5:30pm).
